The Significance of Hierarchy
What was the social order has now developed into a more of an economic order. Whilst in some cases kings and governors are held much higher, there is otherwise much less of a social difference between citizens based on their jobs. Slavery is also now illegal. However, there are now much more dominant economic problems.
The 1990 UN Embargo
After the Embargo by the UN in 1990, there were a lot of economic problems which caused many of the middle-class citizens - who could afford to - to leave. Otherwise, they fell into poverty, along with the lower class. However, the upper class of citizens were left virtually untouched. This shows how much more wealthy the upper class citizens are, because of how they are valued higher and therefore paid higher.
Education
In ancient times not many of even the middle class were able to be educated; there lives were spent doing much more labourious tasks, such as hunting and farming. The well-educated of the higher class became scribes, and merchants, and left everyone else to rot. This is obviously different to what we have now - almost everyone in developed countries around the world get an education, wealthy or not. This is a very positive change, in my opinion, as it gives everyone the chance at a good life.
