The Epic of Gilgamesh is possibly one of the first great works of literature. It was originally written over 12 stone tablets, with anonymous authors, although the most complete signed set found yet was from no later than 600 B.C, and was signed by Sin-Leqi-Unninni, a Babylonian. It is about the demigod (Part human, part god) Gilgamesh, King of Uruk, and Enkidu, who was sent by the gods to prevent Gilgamesh from oppressing his people.
